Copyright law in Pakistan

Copyright law in Pakistan was first codified in the Copyright Act of 1962, which was based on the UK Copyright Act of 1911. This law was amended several times over the years, most recently in 2012 with the passage of the Copyright Ordinance, 2012. The Copyright Ordinance, of 2012 made several changes to Pakistan’s copyright law, including the introduction of new provisions on digital copyright, the creation of a copyright tribunal, and the establishment of a copyright office. It is worth noting that the copyright law of Pakistan is based on the international copyright treaties to which Pakistan is a signatory, including the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works and the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS).
